Q: What is the difference function between HG8240 GPON and HG8240F GPON?

Q: What is the difference between OLT HG8240 and OLT HG8245/OLT HG8245A?
A: The main difference is HG8245/HG8245A comes with WiFi, HG8240 not.

Q: Do you have HG8240 with C+ Module?
A: No, we only have some HG8010H with C+ module.

Q: Do you have 4*GE version HG8240?
A: No, there is only 4*FE version in China market, actually the GPON speed 2.5Gbps after splitting, even just 1:32, average each user can only get 78Mbps, also on the customer side 100Mbps is enough for normal use. For certain customer who really need super high speed internet, you may consider to use HG8010H which has 1*GE, or in some commercial areas, using Huawei MDU, like MA5626, MA5612 which has multiple GE ports.

Q: Do you have documentation of HG8240?
A: Yes, you may contact Huanetwork sales person.

Q: My ONT is with SC/APC, Huanetowrk HG8240 is SC/UPC, do I have any problems?
A: No, it is going to be fine, just make sure you use the cable with SC/UPC connector, Huanetwork also offers SC/UPC connector.

Q: Do I need to have 2 cable for HG8240, one in one out?
A: No, one cable is enough, the GPON is using WDM technology, which only require one cable.

Q: Can I use HG8240 with other brand OLT?
A: Huanetwork not suggest, as the understanding between different vendor on TR069/OMCI may different.

Q: Does HG8240 support routing function?
A: No.

Q: Does HG8240 support battery back?
A: No.

Huawei EchoLife GPON Terminal (4) - Typical Network Applications

The Echolife HG8010/ Echolife HG8110/ Echolife HG8240/ Echolife HG8245/ Echolife HG8242 are an indoor Huawei optical network terminal (Huawei ONT) designed for home users and small office and home office (SOHO) users.   •  In the upstream direction, the HG8010 is connected to the optical splitter and the networkside OLT through the passive optical network (PON) port, namely the OPTICAL port, to provide integrated access services.
  • In the downstream direction, the HG8010 is provides a 10/100/1000M Base-T Ethernet port for connecting to a home gateway. The home gateway then can be connected to a PC, STB, or video phone to provide high-speed data and video services.

2 The difference between the GPON port:



The blue port is SC/PC port, the green port is SC/APC.
PC: physical contact, a typical hand polished connector will measure at –30dB.
SPC: super Physical Contact, industry standard is a minimum of –40dB for SPC back reflection measurement.
If even less back reflection is required, an APC, or Angled Physical Contact polish, might be necessary. An APC connector has an 8º angle cut into the ferrule. These connectors are identifiable by their green color. An APC polished connector has an Industry Standard Minimum f –60dB ORL measurement. APC fiber ends have low back reflection even when disconnected.

But the difference between the GPON port would not affect to use.

HG8240 VS HG8245 VS HG8247

They can all use for home and SOHO users, indoor optical network terminal (ONT)

The difference:
1 Ports:
HG8240 Ports: 2POTS + 4GE
HG8245 Ports: 2POTS + 4GE + 1USB + 1Wi-Fi
HG8247 Ports: 2POTS + 4GE + 1USB + 1CATV + 1Wi-Fi

2 As the ports shown in above, the HG8240 no WI-FI and IPTV function, just works as a light cat.

3 HG8245 and HG8247 with the wireless WIFI and IPTV function, can connect to the spare battery unit and USB storage devices.

4 HG8247 has the CATV coaxial cable port, can directly connect to TV, while the HG8245 can only use the cable connection to achieve this function.

Routing settings of HG8245

The HG8245 with routing function, but the default does not open. There are many routing settings online, but Huawei OLT they are not comprehensive enough, below is the summary.
1 wire connection light cat, first dial.
2 super user login name and password. Methods are as follows:
2.1 if the system is XP, skip this step; if it is win7, "control panel" - "programs and features"- "to open or close the windows function", "telnet server" and "telnet client" confirm open.
2.2 "start" - "run", type "cmd":
Enter "telnet 192.168.1.1" (see photo cat behind the post code),
Input "root",
Input "admin",
Input "shell",
Enter "grep telecomadmin /mnt/jffs2/hw_ctree.xml"

You can get the super user login name and password.

3 login light cat. Enter "http://192.168.1.1" in IE, can appear light cat login interface, inputjust won the super user login name and password to log on.
4 find "network", "set", with the word "INTERNET_B_VID_" to delete the connection name,then the new, "enable WAN connection" to open, "connection type" select "routing","service list" choose "INTERNET", "enable VLAN to open," "get IP" selection "PPPOE",then input the telecommunication to your home broadband account name and password,"binding" to opening. At present, only the lack of a VLAN ID.
5 VLAN ID.
"Start" - "run", type "cmd":
Enter "telnet 192.168.1.1" (see photo cat behind the post code),
Input "root",
Input "admin",
Enter "get port config PortId 1", the value is the portvid= VLAN ID, PortPri= 802.1p(numerical is the basic original default can, mainly VLAN ID)
6 Then input VLAN ID value, and save it.
7 now out of dial-up connection, if you can not surf the Internet, check the 1-6 step and repeat.

Typical Network Applications of HG8245

This topic describes the typical network applications of the HG8040/HG8120/HG8240/HG8240B/HG8242/HG8242B/HG8244T/HG8245/Hg8247/HG8447.

As a network terminal, the ONT is deployed at the GPON access layer and connects the home users users to the Internet through the optical upstream port.


Figure 1 shows the position of the ONT on a network.
In the upstream direction, the Huawei OLT  is connected to the optical splitter and the networkside OLT through the passive optical network (PON) port, namely the OPTICAL port, to provide the integrated access service.

In the downstream direction, the ONT is connected to various terminals through the abundant LAN-side ports, implementing the triple play service.
1 Ethernet ports, which can be connected to terminals such as the PC, STB, and video phone to provide the high-speed data and video services.
NOTE:
Each Ethernet port allows only 1 user access.

2 TEL ports, which can be connected to the telephone set or fax machine to provide the superior and cost-effective voice over IP (VoIP), fax over IP (FoIP), and modem over IP (MoIP) services.
NOTE:
Each TEL port allows only 1 user access.

3 Wi-Fi, which can be connected to a Wi-Fi terminal through wireless connection to provide a secure and reliable high-speed wireless network.
NOTE:
Each ONT allows up 6 wireless connections.

4 USB port, which can be connected to a USB storage device to provide convenient home network attached storage and file sharing services.

5 CATV port, which can be connected to a TV set to provide the quality CATV service transmission.
